Gakpo set for Liverpool stay despite Tottenham interest

Cody Gakpo is set to remain at Liverpool, despite interest from Spurs, according to TalkSport.

Roberto de Zerbi’s side had been interested in a move for £70m-rated Gakpo as they look to reinforce their attack, but TalkSport’s Alex Crook has said they are not willing to sanction the Dutchman’s sale.

Gakpo, 27, joined Liverpool in 2023 after a scintillating 2022 World Cup: he scored three goals in Qatar and another three at the 2026 edition before the Netherlands exited at the hands of Morocco in the last 16.

Liverpool have added to their attack with the signing of Victor Munoz and are also considering Brighton’s Yankubeh Minteh as they look to rejig their attack following Mo Salah’s departure.

Spurs have also spent heavily, but in midfield, breaking their transfer record twice on Mateus Fernandes (£85m) from West Ham and Sandro Tonali (£100m) from Newcastle.
